Hamilton, Ontario: At about 3:30 PM (PST) on Friday, October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were riding on horseback through the wilderness area of Bluff Creek, northeast of Eureka, California. Suddenly, they claimed, they came upon "a sort of man-creature" crouched over a fallen tree trunk beside the creek about 100 years from them.

According to the story, Patterson's horse took fright and reared up, unseating its rider. Startled by this commotion, the bizarre figure turned and stood up. Large, hairy and heavy set, the creature appeared to be of a considerable size and was also immediately recognizable as a female, for its breasts were large and pendulous. The creatures head was carried so low that it appeared to have no neck. Dark reddish-black hair covered its body, except for parts of the face, the palms, and the soles of its feet. The two men estimated that the creature was at least seven feet tall and must have weighed between 350 and 450 pounds.

Patterson quickly took a 16mm movie camera, loaded with color film, from his saddlebag and started filming the creature.

At first, he filmed at a distance of about 110 feet. Then, as he ran in pursuit he closed to about 80 feet away. As the beast started to walk across the sandy spur of the creek, Patterson stopped running. The creature turned and looked at him, then disappeared into the dense woods.

The men believed that they had encountered a Bigfoot, one of the legendary races of primates that allegedly have been sighted for centuries, and that are still believed to inhabit the forests of the Pacific Northwest. The creature is known as Bigfoot in the United States because of its large footprints. In Canada, where, it is claimed, as similar creature is often sighted, it is known as Sasquatch, a Salish Indian name.

Patterson and Gimlin were longtime believers in the existence of Bigfoot. They had ridden into the densely forested region, where Bigfoots had often been spotted, expressly to see if they could track and film one, in order to make a documentary on Bigfoot. They had been traveling on horseback for several days through the Bluff Creek area, filming the scenic terrain. After the creature vanished into the woods, Patterson filmed the footprints and made casts of the tracks. The casts showed prints that were 14.5 inches long and 5 inches wide. The distance between each stride was roughly 40 inches. Patterson shot only 24 feet of film. It was jumpy and hard to follow, and ran for only a minute or two.

Scientists who examined the film saw no clear reason to dismiss it as a fake. But the majority believed the subject filmed must have been a man in a fur suit.

Now, we are asking you to help us.

On our website at www.xzone-radio.com/stabilized_sasquatch_film_media.htm we have a digitally stabilized version of the 1967 Patterson Film. The film shot in 1967 has been stabilized using state of the art computer digitization and we are asking for your opinions.

Letter have been sent to experts throughout the US and Canada asking for their opinions and observations, which we will be posting on our website.

Once again, the website to view the digitally stabilized footage of the 1967 Patterson Film of Bigfoot that was shot on October 20, 1967 can be seen at www.xzone-radio.com/stabilized_sasquatch_film_media.htm.
