Haunted
Ghost Walks return
After
an award-winning season in 2006, the Haunted Ghost Walks of Cobourg return to
frighten and delight visitors this summer. Tours begin July 5 every Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evening at 9 p.m. in July and August (including September
1).
A
new cast of guides, characters and locations help to unravel more pieces of Cobourg's
haunted past.
"If
you went on the tour last year, you will want to try it again this year. Some
of the old favourites are still included, but there are plenty of new stories
and additional details that we have been uncovering in our research" says
Kelly Jessup, event and business manager for Downtown Cobourg.
This
year's tour departs from Victoria Hall and moves eastward along King Street to
287 Division St. (a new location). From there, the tour proceeds south on Division
Street to the Cobourg harbour and boardwalk (new stories).
After
passing the marina, tour-goers will move to one of Cobourg's historic landmarks,
The Barracks, to end the tour at the King George Inn and Historic Cobourg Jail
where patrons will tour the dungeon and then be invited to stay for food and beverage
at The Red Bull & Potato Company Tex-Mex Eatery & Steakhouse (sponsors
for this season).
Tickets
can be purchased at the Concert Hall Box Office located at 55 King St. West in
Cobourg. The box office is open 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Tickets
are now on sale. Or, call 905-372-2210 or 1-888-Cobourg ext. 4153.
Last
year's season was completely sold out more than a month before the tours ended.
Reservations are highly recommended to avoid grave disappointment.
Tours
are wheelchair accessible with assistance (indoor portion of Cobourg Jail excepted)
and appropriate for ages five to 75 years. Tours are mainly outdoors and run rain
or shine.
Patrons
are asked to wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the weather. Tours
can accommodate up to 24 people and are approximately 75 minutes in length.

Haunted Ghost Walks of Cobourg is supported by The Human Bean, Cobourg Retirement
Residence, Mystic Roots, The Buttermilk Caf, City Streaks, Tugg's Furniture
