Paper
publishes UFO footage online as it ventures into the world of video
Footage
of what some believe to be aliens over Spalding has helped the Lincolnshire Free
Press venture into the world of online video publishing.
When
a reader called the weekly paper with a tale of bright orange lights behaving
strangely in the sky - which she had caught on camera - news staff decided to
let readers see for themselves by uploading it to www.spaldingtoday.co.uk.
The
footage of the unidentified flying objects, which lasts for just a few seconds,
shows a up to ten lights hanging in the air and moving in formation at high speed
in silence.
Reader
Susan Sells, who caught the action on a video camera, told the Free Press: "They
were bright orange spheres and were literally going past the back door.
"It
was not frightening just unbelievable. I saw two go past the house and
then there was a formation in the sky."
Editor
Nick Woodhead said the lights had been seen by a number of readers who called
the paper, some of whom also got footage on mobile phones.
It
is the first time that video has been used on www.spaldingtoday.co.uk
Nick
said: "This particular lady had it on video camera and so we had the issue
of trying to decide what we were going to do with it.
"Video
has been mentioned in Johnston Press for a long time, and is the one thing you
can't do in a newspaper, so this was a fantastic opportunity."
With
the help of colleagues at the Lancashire Evening Post, the paper was able to upload
the film to its website and signposted readers to it from the front page of yesterday's
issue.
Nick
said: "Hopefully people will be able to make up their own minds and decide
if it is aliens or whatever."
