What wood Jesus do?

If Jesus wanted to leave the faithful a sign, would he have placed his image in a slice of New Jersey pine wood for a Bensalem Catholic to find?

Furniture maker Craig O’Connor said he was chopping down pine trees last year at a friend’s house in Burlington County when he discovered the image.

“It was such an adrenaline rush to look on it,” O’Connor said. “It was a feeling of awe.”

Aww shucks is more like it. O’Connor has already tried to auction his little slice of heaven on E-Bay, but pulled it back when the highest offer was just $500. “That cheese sandwich sold for $28,000,” he explained. “I think this log is worth as much.”

To me, the image looks like a cross between Bigfoot and one of those ghosts from Scooby Doo that later gets unmasked as a nefarious neighbor/businessman.

I guess if you pine long enough for Jesus’ return, he wood find a way of entering your life. But still, I’d like to see him burn it at Christmas and call it a Yule log.
