Ghost
hunters show spirit to raise £10k

A
FAMOUS city ghost has helped raised more than £10,000 for Edinburgh's Royal
Hospital for Sick Children.
Visitors
to Mary King's Close have donated the money in memory of the ghost of young Annie,
whose spirit is said to live on in the underground tourist attraction.
People
hearing the story of how she was left by her parents in the 1700s because she
contracted the plague have been so moved by the tale that they leave money, toys
and gifts for her.
The
huge sum has built up from donations left in the past year and will help fund
the work of the Sick Kids Foundation drop-in centre.
Maureen
Harrison, director of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, said: "It's hard
to imagine how life was for the children and families who lived in Mary King's
Close.
"That's
why it's so lovely that 'Annie's money' is helping to fund the work of the drop-in
centre."
