Shattered parents Gerry and Kate McCann are desperately hoping a renowned psychic will finally unravel the mystery of their daughter Madeleine's disappearance.

The distraught couple plan to hold a heart-rending "reading" behind closed doors with an acclaimed medium.

And he will try to tap into the spirit world - which the McCanns pray will give them some clue to the whereabouts of four-year-old Maddie.

Family and friends have contacted leading mediums to find out if they would be willing to help.heart surgeon Gerry, 39, and GP Kate .

Gerry's sister Philomena called top TV psychic Colin Fry while brother John's pal called Gordon Smith's London office.

Philomena said last night: "At the start of the campaign to find Madeleine, Gerry said that no stone would be left unturned when looking for her.

"Seeing a psychic is just part of turning more stones. Gerry is not particularly receptive to psychics - but he's prepared to give it a go.

"Kate, on the other hand, has more belief in them." I, myself, contacted Colin Fry from the television programme Sixth Sense and asked for guidance.

Colin Fry is a trained bereavement counsellor and is famed for his TV show Sixth Sense. Colin, 44, has been helping people contact the spirit world for more than 25 years.

And this is not the first time he has been asked to help track down a missing person.

He was once part of a team of telly psychics who joined forces to find the spot where missing Irish girl JoJo Dullard is buried.

They targeted the same piece of land her family have spent years campaigning to have searched.

JoJo's relatives have repeatedly lobbied the Government to have the area dug up - without success.

Colin presented evidence in the documentary Private Psychic Eye, which also featured spiritualists Tony Stockwell and TJ Higgs.

They also believe her murderer is still living on the land - which was not identified in the programme.

JoJo, who was 21 at the time, went missing in Moone, County Kildare, more than 11 years ago.

Meanwhile on his website Gordon-Smith 44,reveals how he can sometimes get vital information from beyond the grave

He says e: "I feel a vibration in my aura.

"This is followed by pictures and voices of the spirit wishing to communicate. I see and hear people from the spirit world."

Madeleine vanished from the family's Portuguese holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on May 3.

Her 39-year-old parents immediately launched a massive worldwide quest to find their little daughter.

But they returned home to Rothley, Leics, on September 9 after being officially declared suspects by cops hunting Maddie Police say investigators have been deluged with emails and letters from clairvoyants across the globe. They all claim they can pinpoint the youngster.

Detectives have filed the messages in two massive dossiers - each three inches thick . But so far all the claims have come to nothing.

Despite that, Gerry and Kate are now considering meeting with a psychic.

One possibiluty is ormer hairdresser Gordon Smith. He has published a series of psychic books, sells out 3,500-seat venues on frequent tours of the UK and America and regularly appears on prime-time TV programmes.

His celebrity clients have included former EastEnder Michelle Collins and one-time Brookside babe and Strictly Come Dancing star Claire Sweeney.

Last nightwhen The People contacted Gordon he confirmed he had been approached by a third party but added" Of course if the parents want my help I will but I really don't want to discuss thbis."

But there can be no guarantees hGordon will be able to discover Maddie's fate.

He says on his website: "Spirits do not always come forward and there have been occasions when no contact is made.

"In these cases it is best to be honest with the sitter and end the reading."
