Thief Spears Feet On Fence During Getaway Attempt

Durban, South America (AHN) -- A man suspected of theft was found clinging to a rail after impaling his feet onto a spiked fence while trying to escape from guards.

According to reports, Mthandani Nqetho managed to free one foot, but was unable to reach the other foot, hence leaving him dangling on the fence.

It was only when churchgoers found him the next morning and called the rescue service that Nqetho was able to finally free his other foot, said the BBC.

According to Greg Bevan, Nqetho was found with swollen wrists, after spending the night clinging to the fence.

"People in the crowd gave him a cigarette and grapes until the rescue services arrived," Bevan told the BBC.

People believed that the suspect was stuck there for about 12 hours.

Nqetho will be charged with robbery, and is currently being guarded at the local hospital.
