Some Lubbock Residents Spot A UFO Traveling Across Texas

In recent weeks several UFO sightings have been reported near Stephenville, Texas. Some say the mysterious lights traveling across Texas are now lighting up the Lubbock sky.

NewsChannel 11 received phone calls and e-mails from several viewers Wednesday night after we showed this home video taken just south of Fort Worth Monday night. Witnesses in the area described seeing four orange lights in a straight line.

That sighting came one week after residents in Stephenville claimed they saw a UFO as well.

A phenomenon several people say they have seen appear locally.

For a brief moment Tuesday morning, Texas Tech student Brian Callahan says he felt as though he'd entered the twilight zone.

"The light was so brilliant it was like a white light I've never seen," says Callahan.

Callahan spotted the mysterious object just Northeast of his house located between Frankford and Erskine.

"The thing that boggled my mind most of all was its speed. I've never seen anything move that fast. I've never seen any plane move that fast," says Callahan.

Callahan's description sounds relatively similar to a UFO citing a week ago in Stephenville.

"I saw bright lights that glowed and then faded," says one Stephenville resident.

"It looked faster than a jet," says another Stephenville resident.

And then there's home video taken just Monday night South of Forth Worth. Witnesses claim four orange lights appeared in a straight line in the night sky.

Sightings Callahan had not heard of until he began research on the Internet.

"With the universe being so big you gotta wonder what's up there sometimes," says Callahan.

NewsChannel 11 showed the video to Ron Wilhelm and Lee Powell in the Physics Department at Texas Tech.

After a look at the lights, the men say it's time for a reality check.

"I don't know what that is. It looks like a star or a satellite," says Wilhelm.

Both Wilhelm and Powell claim what may appear out of the ordinary to some actually does belong right there in the sky.

"There are certain satellites they give off a big flash as they rotate," says Wilhelm.

"I've certainly seen meteorites break up and leave a glowing trail behind them," says Powell.

"A fireball is a glowing meteor. It's a hot rock that shoots across the sky," says Wilhelm.

What about extra terrestrial life?

"I think there is confusion whether there is life on other planets or whether life is visiting us from other planets. The probability that life somewhere else is high but probability of life visiting us is very much lower," says Wilhelm.

Texas investigators from the Mutual UFO Network Plan to look into the Stephenville sightings this weekend and Tech student Callahan is traveling there to tag along.

This isn't the first time there have been alleged UFO sightings in Lubbock. One of the most popular sightings was in 1951--a set of triangle shaped lights now known as "The Lubbock Lights."
