SCOTTISH
PAGANS TO FLOCK TO FOCHABERS FOR SUMMER CAMP
08:50
- 02 February 2008
Followers
of witchcraft and druidism from throughout the UK are to descend on a Moray community
for a summer camp.
The
Scottish Pagan Federation's three-day gathering is planned to take place at Inchberry
Community Hall, near Fochabers.
The
get-together is designed for worshippers to celebrate their nature-centred religion.
At
the gathering, pagans will take part in an opening ritual and a range of workshops.
There are also activities planned for children.
The
Rev Graham Swanson, of Elgin Baptist Church, said he had some concerns about the
event.
He
said the Bible warns people to stay away from witchcraft and anything associated
with it.
Event
organiser Joanne Campbell said: "It's a weekend camp - just people getting
together to camp out and socialise. Some people may come in fancy dress.
"All
we are doing is meeting with people who are interested in the same kind of thing
as ourselves.
"We
would hope that others would allow us to express ourselves."
The
gathering will be held from July 18 to 20, with all proceeds going to support
the work of the Scottish Pagan Federation in serving the religion and its community.
