GRANDE
PRAIRIE, Alta. Alberta Mounties say a dog stolen from a pet store should
be easy to spot.
"I
cant imagine a miniature (Doberman) pinschers testicle being overly
large, but the fact that theres only one hanging and not the other is going
to help identify this dog,"" said RCMP Const. Scott Hagarty. ""It
sticks out."
Hagarty
said the heist happened New Years Eve when two women entered a Petland store
in Grande Prairie and were looking at puppies in an open pen.
Soon,
one of the pups was gone, and so were the suspects.
Store
manager Glenda Stride said the tan-coloured puppy was worth $1,588. She said the
stolen pooch hadnt been neutered or implanted with a microchip. ""We
probably would have found it by now if it had a microchip,"" she noted.
The
two suspects met up with two men in the store, police said, but it was unclear
if the men played any role in the theft. A surveillance camera recorded one of
the women exiting the store with the dog tucked under her coat, accompanied by
the second woman.
Hagarty
said police are relying on tips from people who may have seen the dog. An RCMP
release explained that only one of the puppys testicles had descended.
""Its
kind of a unique dog," Hagarty said.
