Internet scam under investigation

County Sheriff's Department officers are investigating an Internet scam reported
by a Van Buren woman, according to police reports.
Police
reports said that after posting her resume on careerbuilder.com, the woman, a
designer, was offered a job by Arico Designs out of Texas. The job entailed repackaging
and gift-wrapping items that were shipped to her home, according to police reports,
and sending the packages to the Ukraine.
Police
reports said the woman started working with the company June 24, and stopped receiving
correspondence from the company July 25. During that time, she received numerous
credit card bills with her address, but names that corresponded to those on the
packages, police reports said.
Attempts
to contact the fraudulent business were unsuccessful, police reports said, but
the company is documented on the Web site scamtracker.com.
