Paranormal group puts Plas Teg on tourist map

A GROUP of investigators went in search of evidence of the spirit world at a so-called "haunted house" near Mold.

UK-Paranormal, a well established investigation group based in the Rhyl/Prestatyn area, were filmed while at Plas Teg by French TV broadcasting company France 3 as part of a programme about interesting places to visit in Britain.

Set up by medium Sheena Young in 2005, it now has between 40 and 50 members, who travel around the country carrying out investigations in various haunted hot-spots, and a core team of four dedicated members also make private house calls to people who are having problems with paranormal visitors.

Members are voluntary and the organisation is non-profit-making.

All hi-tech investigating equipment, such as night visions cameras, electromagnetic field readers and temperature sensors are all paid for by team members, who are fuelled by their passion for the paranormal.

Sheena said: "It's my life. I do it for the love of spirits."

The team spent the night at Plas Teg and carried out activities such as table tipping and transfiguration – in which team member Christine Wright stared into a mirror and invited members of the spirit world to 'shadow' her (indicate their presence by slightly changing her facial features) – and both investigations gave positive results.

And if you're among the many people thinking "as if", then members of UK-Paranormal would be happy to listen to your argument. Unlike many ghost-hunting groups, they welcome sceptics and attempts to explain away freakish occurances.

Sheena added: "You have to have an open mind and consider all the options, or you won't be taken seriously. We're not here to entertain the public or scare them – we try to provide an interesting experience for anyone who wants it."

And an interesting experience is certainly what it was for members of the public who joined the team at Plas Teg – among ghostly goings-on were floors vibrating as if under heavy footsteps, people being touched and prodded, cold spots and unexplained noises.

Sheena believes she also managed to pick up on some fleeting spirits, including two spirit children whom she has made contact with before at Flintshire's most notorious haunted house.
