If
you see an unidentified flying object in the night skies over Regina next week,
it isn't Harry Potter nor is it Superman.
It'll
be CT-155 Hawks or CT-156 Harvard II aircrafts.
Night
flying training missions will be conducted at 15 Wing Air Vice-Marshal C.M. McEwen
Airfield Moose Jaw next week from Monday to Thursday.
These
training missions will also include limited night flying operations at the Regina
International Airport on these nights. The training missions will wrap up at the
latest at 1:30 a.m. Monday and at 11:30 p.m. the other evenings.
Although
night flying is a mandatory requirement for NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC),
steps will be taken to minimize its impact on residents of Regina and Moose Jaw.
Under
the NFTC program, jet-pilot training takes place at two locations -- at 15 Wing
Moose Jaw and 4 Wing in Cold Lake, Alta. At present, Canada's Air Force, the Royal
Danish Air Force, the Royal Air Force (United Kingdom), the Republic of Singapore
Air Force, the Italian Air Force and the Hungarian Air Force are participants
in NFTC.
