Psychic
failed to see future trouble in wages' dispute
A CLAIRVOYANT failed
to see trouble ahead when she neglected to pay a child-minder her full wages.
Geena
Stevenson was ordered to pay damages and unpaid wages on November 15 to her former
employee Amina Dean.
Mrs
Stevenson runs Sister Lucienna fortune-tellers from Lewisham.
The
judgement was made at the employment tribunal in Mrs Stevenson's absence.
The
tribunal heard that Mrs Stevenson had agreed to pay Mrs Dean £5 an hour
as a full-time childminder.
But some wages remained outstanding and no
payment had been made in lieu of notice when Mrs Dean's employment came an end.
Mrs
Stevenson lives and works from the premises in Ermine Road, where Mrs Dean was
employed to look after the clairvoyant's two-year-old daughter.
Mrs
Dean, from Ongar in Essex, applied for the position in July after it was advertised
in a classifieds newspaper.
The
tribunal awarded Mrs Dean one week's notice pay of £240 and the £40
of wages she was still owed.
Mrs
Stevenson declined to comment.
