KFC Launches Global Re-Image as it Unveils Astronomical 87,500Square-Foot New Colonel Sanders Logo in Area 51

Global Re-Image Campaign Contemporises Entire Look of KFC - From Logoto Restaurant Design, Advertising, Packaging, Point-Of-Sale, Uniforms andMore

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) today became the world's first brand visiblefrom outer space after unveiling a giant image of founder Colonel Sanders inthe Nevada desert.

The Colonel Sanders 'astrovertisement' was built in Rachel, Nevada, the'UFO Capital of the World', just off the world's only extraterrestrialHighway, in the infamous Area 51.

"KFC's new look contemporises one of the most recognized and cherishedbrand icons in the world and spans all visual elements from logo torestaurant design, advertising, packaging, uniforms and more. The Colonel istruly a global icon and we want everyone in the universe to see KFC's newlook of the future," said Graham Allan, President of KFC International.

The new logo depicts Colonel Sanders with his signature string tie, butreplaces his classic white, button-down suit with a red apron. The apronsymbolizes the home-style culinary heritage of the brand and remindscustomers that KFC is always in the kitchen cooking delicious, high-quality,freshly prepared chicken by hand in the restaurants, just the way ColonelSanders did fifty years ago.

The Colonel's Top Secret Mission

The massive logo, which is referred to as the "Face from Space" by theproject team, is so large it needs comparison:

- Big Ben - the Bell itself is called Big Ben - diameter = 9ft (height =7ft 6in) - the bell could be replicated 1354 times to fit into the logo.Alternatively the clock face of Big Ben has an area of 28.26 sq ft (radius 3)and can fit into the logo 3043 times

- Stonehenge - The largest stones in Stonehenge are the Sarsen stoneswhich measure 8ft wide by 25ft long. Based on this measurement, you would beable to fit 435 stones into the KFC logo

- The London Eye - The wheel of the London Eye has an area of 12,568 sqft meaning that it fits into the KFC logo 6.9 times

- Angel of the North - Colonel Sanders stands five times taller than theAngel of the North

- York Minster - Colonel Sanders is almost twice the height of the towersof York Minster

- It took a team of nearly 50 designers, engineers, scientists (includingastrophysicists), architects and other professionals working nearly threemonths to conceive, create and execute building the world's largest logo.

- The "Face from Space" took more than 3,000 hours to create frominception to launch and was built by Synergy Events, a leader in integratedexperiential marketing.

- The logo consists of 65,000, one-foot by one-foot SnapCourt (TM) tilepieces that were assembled

- Like a giant jigsaw puzzle: 6,000 red, 14,000 white, 12,000 eggshell,5,000 beige and 28,000 black.

- The "Face from Space" took more than 3,000 hours to create frominception to launch and was built by Synergy, a leading event company.

- The logo consists of 65,000, one-foot by one-foot painted tile piecesthat were assembled like a giant jigsaw puzzle: 6,000 red, 14,000 white,12,000 eggshell, 5,000 beige and 28,000 black.

- The logo took 24 days, working around-the-clock, to manufacture andultimately produce. It then took six days on site to construct the logo,during which time the logo design pieces were kept hidden and under coverfrom identified and unidentified flying objects.

- Area 51's secretive nature and link to classified aircraft research andreports of unusual phenomena, have led it to become the centrepiece of modernUFO and conspiracy theory. Other key activities associated with Area 51include rumours of meetings with extraterrestrials, the development of timetravel technology and the storage, examination and reverse engineering ofcrashed alien spacecraft (including material supposedly recovered at Roswell,NM).

- Due to the unprecedented nature of the project, the team endurednumerous twists and turns along the way including a freak torrential downpourthat rendered the original site inaccessible. The first location was in theflatlands of Utah near the home of the very first KFC restaurant.

- A state-of-the-art GEO satellite captured the image of the logo as itcircled the earth at an altitude of 300 miles. This is only the fourth timein more than 50 years that the logo has changed.

- After three years of testing different restaurant designs in the U.S.and international markets, KFC is today revealing its restaurant look of thefuture. KFC's new global image is in the process of rolling out inrestaurants around the world and will be completed within the next fiveyears.
