Ghostbuster fails to oust angry spook

A TOP television ghostbuster has failed to banish a spook which is still haunting a world-famous Worcester firm... six months later.

Derek Acorah, one of Britain's most renowned spirit mediums, visited Worcester in May in a bid to exorcise evil spirits.

One sinister spook he encountered roaming Worcester Porcelain Museum in Severn Street was believed to be the ghost of museum apprentice William Lee.

However, despite his attempts to spirit away the angry apprentice, museum staff say his shadowy presence is still in evidence. Museum manager Amanda Savidge said there had been a noticeable difference but she still heard footsteps in the gallery where the ghost of Lee is still said to haunt.

She added: "There was a very cold air in the lift well area where he detected the presence of an angry elderly man but this is a lot more comfortable now although it's still a degree or two less than the rest of the building.

"We were told previously though that we weren't the subject of a permanent occupation at all and the spirits that came have visited us now and then."

We reported in May how Mr Acorah was filming in Worcester for the third series of his show, Ghost Towns, and visited several city locations to try to exorcise things that went bump in the night.

The programme was broadcast on Living TV last month to coincide with Halloween.

The Ghost Town followed Mr Acorah and presenters Rhodri Owen and Myleene Klass, formerly of reality pop group Hear'Say, around eight different haunted locations to meet the spirits of Britain.

Samantha Coley, stylist at Classic Cuts in Friar Street - which was also visited by the team - said staff members had noticed strange things happening at the hairdresser and that objects had been going missing.

The team discovered the ghost of a blind monk or priest and a child, however staff said since their visit that things had got better and there had been no more ghostly incidents.

The show also visited Andy Cole, manager of the Pen Connection in Friar Street and Derek found two evil spirits, although Mr Cole said there had been a remarkable change since and stock had stopped moving around the store as before.

The television star was unavailable for comment as the Worcester News went to press.
