FACE
HAS THE LOOK OF LOVE
PEOPLE
fall face-first in love, a scientific study has discovered.
They
try to seek out a partner with a personality similar to their own by studying
their appearance, research released today says.
Previous
studies have found that men and women are attracted to people like themselves.
Psychologist
Dr Anthony Little made the discovery while trying to find out if people decide
on someone's personality based only on their looks.
The
Stirling University worker made a computer generated face consisting of features
that were attractive to people who fancied easy-going partners.
Then
he made a second face attractive to people who did not like care-free partners.
People
shown the two faces were able to find a difference between the personalities.
Those
who liked easy-going partners were more attracted to the "easy-going"
face.
Dr
Little said: "We found these two faces did differ in perceived personality,
indicating that the personality desired in a partner is reflected in face preference."
The
study also found there is no such thing as a perfect face that is attractive to
everyone.
