Bluegrass, X Zone radio programs find new home on Brock's CFBU

by Christopher Waters

Two well-known Niagara-based radio shows have changed frequencies to join the fold of Brock's campus and community radio station.

The long-lived specialty programs about bluegrass and the world of the paranormal are now featured in the Brock programming schedule after being cancelled at their original stations.

Best of Bluegrass with Brian MacCarthy, a mainstay with former Welland AM country station CHOW airs Thursday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. on CFBU which broadcasts on 103.7 FM and on Cogeco cable at 100.1FM.

Meantime, Rob McConnell's The X Zone program returns to the airwaves Monday to Friday from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. starting March 19.

The talk show which discusses aliens, new-age religions, parapsychology and all things unexplained, fell victim to programming changes at 610 CKTB where it was broadcast live Saturday and Sunday night from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

McConnell, who writes, produces and hosts the show, hopes to have The X Zone syndicated throughout Canada and the United States. The Niagara community radio station's programming can also be found on-line at www.cfbu.niagara.com.
