I don't know about you, but it boils my blood to think that there are thousand's of self-proclaimed "psychics" who are practicing a trade throughout Canada that is against the law. That's right, according to the Criminal Code of Canada.....

(a) pretends to exercise or to use any kind of witchcraft, sorcery, enchantment or conjuration
(b) undertakes, for a consideration, to tell fortunes, or
(c) pretends from his skill in knowledge of an occult or crafty science to discover where or in what manner anything is supposed to have been stolen or lost may be found,

That's the law of the land - the Canadian Criminal Code. However by looking in the metropolitan newspapers and on late night TV where psychics and the psychic 1-900 lines advertise; the signage in front of homes throughout metropolitan centers and rural areas alike; the psychic fairs that are constantly being advertised and when the members of the public are welcome (with open arms and open cash drawers), it seems that Canadian Law Enforcement is not interested in enforcing this article of the Criminal Code, nor are they really interested in protecting the general public against these menaces in society. The last estimate that I was given is that there are in excess o f10,000 practicing psychics in Canada.

Did you know that the average psychic makes in excess of $40,000.00 a years and the majority of them do not declare their income?

Over the years I have had the opportunity of studying alleged psychics close at hand, and believe me, there are less than a handful that I would consider more psychic than the average person.

You see, there is no special power required to become a psychic; there is no gift that is bestowed on chosen individuals; there is no extraterrestrial power associated with psychics - this is where the fraud comes in. It has been proven in research laboratories throughout the world that everyone is born with so called "psychic abilities" that is actually ESP. At one time or another, we have all experienced that gut feeling in certain circumstances... the feeling that something is wrong... thinking of someone and the next thing you know, the phone rings and it is the person you were thinking of... you know, all those little things that we pay no attention to that happen to each and every one of use everyday of our lives... and yet there are those members of our society that constantly seek the advice of these fraud artists. These are the people I personally feel sorry for. Just think about it, they actually pay a stranger to listen to them and allow these strangers to fill them with false hopes.

Some society we are. People who need help have to seek out people that are breaking the law to get help that they are denied by society. Why denied you say? Well, in most cases, psychics are cheaper than professional counselors, clergy and professional psychologists. The person going to the psychic could save their money, if only they could swallow their pride about the issue at hand and discuss the matter with a friend or family member.

People... give your heads a shake... the psychic that you are forking over your hard earned money to really don't give two hoots about your problems! They live off the problems of others. People who have no problems in their lives do not go to psychics. All they care about is how much they are going to scam off their victims through their criminal act...and that's a fact. Don't you get it? YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF! They cannot tell you anything that is concrete or that you cannot change. The future is not fixed, it can be change at any time by a variety of variables. If psychics were so hot, how come in the history of the Canadian Lottery, there has never been a psychic who has won a jackpot, nor has there been a winner of a jackpot to contributes their winning to a psychic? How come there has never been a psychic who has made a killing in the stock market? How come there have never been psychics who have made any major mineral or precious metal finds? How come there has never been a major archeological find made by a psychic? The answer is very simple...THEY CANNOT TELL THE FUTURE.

They prey on the unfortunate, the unemployed, the lonely, the disillusioned, the heart broken, the sad, the people who are having bad times in their lives and are willing to turn to the sensational for a glimpse of hope...usually at $4.99 a minutes. Psychics are no better than bank robbers, bootleggers, burglars, auto thieves, smugglers and other criminals that are constantly being sought by law enforcement for breaking the law. Yet, when there is a psychic fair in town, what to the police do? Nothing? Why? Because, according to one police office that was contacted, they us the disclaimer, "for entertainment purposes only." Does this mean that if any other criminal was to use, "for entertainment purposes only" during the commission of their crime, that they would be free of arrest and prosecution? Can you imagine a bank robber going up to the teller, passing her a note that read, "THIS IS A HOD-UP... PUT ALL YOUR MONEY IN THIS BAG... for entertainment purposes only." What is the difference between people defrauding the welfare system, the unemployment system, and other provincial and federal government plans and people who break the law by telling fortunes? THERE IS NONE!

An alarming statistic that has recently released is that the majority of psychics belong to a subculture that includes Satanism and Occultism. These subcultures freely indulge in the use of illegal drugs, mind control, sexual abuse, sacrificial offerings, the drinking of blood, and other practices that are in no way affiliated with any recognized form of Spiritualism, Mythology, Mysticism or Culture. Yes, the world of the paranormal is a realm on its own, but these psychics have no place in the world of the paranormal...they are fraud artists...they are criminals and should be stopped from breaking the law and destroying the lives of individuals and families alike - not to mention taking their victims to the cleaners. Look at it this way, Jessie James wore a mask - a bank robber uses a gun - a psychic uses message or impression from thin air. Hello..reality check... testing one, two, three!

When you get down to the basics, take off their pendants, take their rocks and crystal balls away, put out their burning candles, extinguish their smudges and incense, and the rest of their props and you have a physical being - just like you and me. They are not special - they are just very bold and brazen people who have the ability, means, motive and opportunity to commit the criminal act as you, the unsuspecting consumer walks into their parlor or dials them at 1-900-RIPOFF.

Ignorance of the law is NO EXCUSE!
