London talk show host launches paranormal board game

By Sandra Coulson

As strange as it may sound, a London talk show host has invented a board game about the paranormal. Rob McConnell already has a radio show called The 'X' Zone on CJBK; an ONTV feature called The 'X' Updates and a newspaper and magazine, both called The 'X' Chronicles. Today they are launching The 'X' Game during his radio show, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m.

"It was a dream that started over Christmas holidays (96) to show people the connection between theology, science, and the paranormal - things we don't understand," Rob McConnell said. McConnell uses his shows and other media to debunk some claims of the paranormal and support others through investigations.

"We present both side and let the listener, viewer and now game-player come to their own conclusion," McConnell said. The game is for 2 to 4 players. They try to win by answering questions. But each question card also has imaginary spells that can be used against opposing players, for example, by forcing them to lose a chance at winning points or to switch places with another opponent.

The game is designed for players aged 12 and up. Retailing for $39.95, it will be available at the radio station, in stores throughout Canada and the United States and on the internet. The 'X' Game is manufactured by Global Games in Toronto, Ontario.
